Tremenheere Friday 24th October

Mini meet to view the extensive changes at Tremenheere.

Meet at 1300 outside the plant sales area.

The valley walk has been transformed; the boardwalk has gone and a solid raised path on a slightly different course has taken its place. There is much more light after the ash trees have been removed.

There is a new area that Neil referred to as 'Mediterranean' that I haven't yet seen.

IMPORTANT.

An Autumn 'cheap' entry offer is on for Cornish residents.

To take advantage of this offer, simply bring along ID and proof of Cornwall residency when you visit.

I am afraid I went into information overload with so many things outside my comfort zone - Paul, John or Chad may be able to any "what is it " questions!

We eventually left Neil Paul and Rob up in the plant nursery got back to the entrance at about 5pm only to discover the gates locked!!

Great photos thank you. Looks like you had better weather than up here. I've never been to this garden on any of my once regular visits but it looks to have matured superbly and will be on my next itinerary. Any idea what the Passiflora is? It looks a little like Fledermaus, which I've toyed with for the greenhouse. Cetainly it looks too tender for outdoor cultivation here but I guess we are mostly frost-free down there.

I was told 'Nova' but I hadnt heard of it, Neil had planted lots of stuff he had picked up from Hill House, its unlikely to be tough enough for outdoors even there! but I would be delighted to be wrong as the flower colour and growth habit were good

I think Neil was joking. 'Nova' is used as a placeholder name for wild introductions until a botanist describes and names a new thing.

I tentatively suggest the Passiflora is either Passiflora coccinea or a hybrid of it.
