Couple of big flowering events here!

My big old puya hybrid (Chad- got the name confirmed by your chum John David, as well as some other no ID's I have - thanks for the introduction) has pushed up 3 spikes this year - usually only one.




And a first flowering of Beschorneria albiflora for me.

Love the Puya flowers, they don't come much more dramatic than that.
There are some huge Puya (I think chilensis) in flower in the Queen Mary gardens in Falmouth, flower heads must be at least 6ft above the foliage.
I have a six inch high Puya alpestris, do you think I might live to see it flower?

Yes, these are that big. They take up a lot of real estate, for sure.

I reckon you'll defo see it flower. They seem to grow for a few years, flower, then wait even longer for a repeat. My alpestris flowered as a single rosette after maybe 5 years and has not flowered again since in the ensuing 15. Poss 20, thinking about it.
