As for the booze, pop up to Porthmadog. There's a pub near the chippy(can't remember it's name- the one with the scowling locals) that does/did some decent posh drinks. Have one of those and when I see you next I'll give you the money for it :D

Your description doesn't help much there are a lot of chip shops in Porth, and every pub has scowling locals! They don't like Interlopers round here. :shock: :roll: ;)
Hey Kgarden, I've just been rereading your last post on this topic, servants in the 1960's ! You must live in a damned posh area, don't you know. What what. :lol:
My parents bought a large pile in 1960. It had two staff cottages. Some time prior to that mains water had been piped to the main house, and flushing toilets installed. They hadn't bothered with the cottages - well water and night soil fine for them. My Father considered that the cottages were completely unfit for human habitation and got the occupants into council houses in short order.

Edit. :idea: I suppose your farther later sold the cottages for development and made another pile. ;)

Fortunately you are much more of an expert on this sort of thing than I. At a very early age I decided I had enough trouble looking after myself let alone children. People keep saying "but who will look after you in your old age"! My thoughts were, all the money I saved by not having children would keep me in the lap of luxury in my old age. :lol: Things were progressing nicely until I became an enthusiastic globe trotter in my middle age and spent it all. :roll:.......... :idea: Any one fancy a lodger with a sense of humour. ;)
