.... in your greenhouse?
I have cut down on the number of seeds that I am germinating this year! However, I couldn't resist growing something so I currently have Canna brasiliensis, Impatiens balsamina, Ipomoea 'heavenly blue' & 'Red feathers' and a Chilli's in the prop. All have germinated, so maybe I will have to sow something else ;)

Re: What's cooking.....
I struggle to germinate much in my greenhouse, but the shed is ideal as the temperature is more stable. So I've taking a punt that this summer will be as rubbish as the last two and started some Lachenalia seed off in March. This way I'll get 18 months growth before the first dormancy period. Of course if it goes belly up and we get a summer I'll have to resort to plan B.
I do have some unknown seed from Tanzania germinating in the greenhouse though. One is a member of the Fabaceae family, but the other is a bit of a mystery. Both came from large shrubs/small trees.
Seedlings in the g/house include various Salvia, various Commelina, some rarer Lobelia (L.montana, brigdesii and polyphylla), some Abutilon x hybridum and a Sesbania punicea.

I never have any luck trying to germinate Eccremocarpus seeds! I have no trouble with my plant self seeding into various pots but collecting the seeds and trying to grow them is a different matter. What is the key to success?flounder wrote:I've got my greenhouse back after the squatters, so I might start a couple of thousand callistemon off in the next few days....plus some echium, eccremocarpus, phoenix.......

Strange that, I can germinate them easily but can never keep them alive for any length of time once planted! :lol:Darran wrote:I never have any luck trying to germinate Eccremocarpus seeds! I normally do them the same as pansies. 18-20c lightly covered. If temps get in the mid twenties, I find germination is sporadic

I used to lose a lot of Eccromocarpus when I pricked them out, but now just surface sow and prick them out as soon as the embryonic leaves have opened fully.
