My clump of Gladiolus tristis gets bigger every year, scent like wild honey suckle (according to my nose)

Not to my knowledge Charlie. The larger bulbs produces dozens of babies which will throw up vey thin grass-like growth the following spring which makes the clump look like its growing in a lawn.
I think that this autumn i will lift the bulbs and clean off the babies before replanting.

John has grown and flowered Gladiolus cardinalis from seed, so it isn't impossible.

I actually managed to kill my Tetrapanax. It had got too tall and the leaves were getting smaller so I cut it back, expecting it to sprout from the stem and/or sucker. Nada. :lol:

I expect I'll be digging up suckers here shortly, if you need a bit?
