Parthenocissus "'Marlene'"

Does anyone know anything about the origins of this?

Seldom is the internet so silent!

But digging around in the same web site you found the picture in, it would appear that they think it is a form of Parthenocissus henryana.

Although I'm more used to that having dark leaves with pale veins, there do seem to be clones that look more like that, unless they are misidentified.

Could it be a selection for a more divided leaf from one of those?

ps. It looks more like Ampelopsis aconitifolia, possibly in the clone 'Chinese Lace' to me!

I though it had more of the Ampelopsis about it, it has been bought by the RHS for Wisley from a Dutch grower and they were trying to find out more about it! It has all the hallmarks of a rebadging operation!!

To me it looks all kinds of wrong for Parthenocissus and all kinds of right for Ampelopsis aconitifolia.

Must be a first - a plant producer got a plant name wrong :lol:

John is suggesting a cut leafed form of Clematicissus striata.

Is that a new name for Cissus striatus?

It has been Vitis striata and Cissus striata in the past.

What has pushed John in that direction is that the blurb said it was evergreen.

But I don't know how reliable that information is!

Probably about as reliable as everything else. I currently have Cissus striatus, Ampelopsis aconitifolia and have grown Parthenocissus henryi in the past. My money is firmly on the ampelopsis :D
