East Lambrook Manor

Post by charlie »

There on Saturday (Working) famously the garden made by Margery Fish, I am left wondering at the wisdom of giving gardens grade 1 listings but if you like perennial planting you will love it (huge collection of hardy geraniums)

Lovely pictures Charlie, hope you had a good day.
I agree with you about the wisdom of grade 1 listing in gardens, which have to evolve to survive. Especially true of East Lambrook Manor where only a small part of the garden we see nowadays was actually there in Marjory Fish's time.

Had a brilliant day thanks John, helped by actual sunshine and warmth (actually got down to shirt sleeves for the first time this year!

I have to say I have been going to the garden on and off for a number of years, through a number of different owners and there has been with Mike the present owner in the last couple of years a great improvement in the care and maintenance of the plantings, and many of the rather twee paths and steps have been repaired, but its not a garden that lends its self to any number of "Visitors" as it was designed as a personal garden
