Keeping the peace

Post by charlie »

Sat yesterday looking down the garden I realized I no longer could see the view through to the tree fern and bamboo, the Paulownia had spread in all directions, so I spent the rest of the afternoon trimming stuff back to restore views and let light back in to various parts of the garden, as I was doing it I pondered how odd it was we spend half our time willing and waiting for stuff to grow then as soon as it does chopping it off because its got too big :)

So what your preferred method , constant nibbling, infrequent hacking sessions, or move and let someone else sort it out!!

I'm sure that I'm one of the most untidy gardeners there is so infrequent hacking would best describe my approach. I sometimes wish that I could employ someone else to do the hacking, weeding, hedge cutting and other less interesting jobs.

Was that your Larch?

Still look on the bright side, you will be nice and warm this winter!

Half a dozen Larch, Charlie, the rest were Leylands. I have been taking them down a couple at a time for the last few months but the last finally fell on Thursday evening. Now all I have to do is tidy up! Fortunately they all came down cleanly and where I wanted them. One needed a little 'encouragement' with a block and tackle because it felt that falling on the greenhouse would be more fun, but all's well that ends well.
