Senna corymbosa - will it take a hard prune?

Post by Paul S »

As per title. I have removed a few overgrown neighbouring plants and am now left with a rather spindly, leggy thing. I intend to cut it hard back in early spring in the hope that it will break out from old wood but would be pleased to hear some reassurance! :o

Mine does, I treat it a bit like Buddleja but it does depend on where you got it from, the plant I have is Senna corymbosa but many of the plants I see being sold here in the UK as corymbosa are Senna obtusa a more showy plant with bigger flowers and leaves but a bit less hardy

That's good to know, Charlie, as I got it from you! I'll be after another one in spring, too. :)
