Canarina canariensis?

Post by charlie »

Now I have it flowering well each winter I thought I may grow a few to sell so I hand pollinated a couple of flowers and now have a good amount of seedlings but I can see it taking a while to get them big enough to leave home. Does anyone know if cuttings are possible ?

Seem to remember trying a long time back when we first grew it that I failed miserably!!

Your plant is so lovely Charlie and seeing it prompted me to get one last year. A week ago I decided I would remove it from the pot and plant it directly in the greenhouse border. The stem broke off when I took it from the pot and I was left with what looked like a Jersey Royal. Anyway, I’ve planted it so I hope it grows back. I’d love to end up with a plant like yours.

I think it should recover from the swollen underground part, it took me several non flowering years to realise it likes a deep root run!
