Kew - Temperate House

Post by charlie »

Liz and I went up on our way on Holiday, managed to coincide with an EPS forum meet there so got to say hi to friends old and new.
The main reason for the Forum meet was the newly refurbished Temperate House.

We were being shown around by David Cooke now back at the helm of the temperate house, so we started off below ground having tea and biscuits in an area I didn't even know existed!, then it was out to the plants, bear in mind most the the planting was this spring its filled out really well, just a few things that caught my eye.

Never been sure which Cestrum I have but its a lot darker than this I have always gone with C. Newellii

Got bored with my Phymosia so I planted it out this spring, its grown well but no flowers (yet!)

The whole thing is looking pretty good, with much better ventilation.

Top Tip, if you are not a friend of Kew (and I am not but would be if closer) the Two for One tickets from the May edition of Gardeners World Magazine do what thay say and save quite a chunk of money
