Makes a lovey shrub in my greenhouse, rather less good outside, yet I originally got the cutting off a huge bush outside in Cornwall!

Absolute caviare for the slimy critters here too!

Sometimes something comes into bloom that makes me wonder why I try to grow exotics. One such plant is Camassia - dead easy to grow (toss the bulbs in and cover and that's about as much effort as they take) but apart from the scrappy foliage (easily obscured) they're simple perfection in my opinion......................

The Scilla looks fantastic - I cannot get them through a winter here.

Salvia buchanii is the flavour of the week here...................


When a plant blooms on such a small cutting you just know that it's going to be a good doer!

A bit common, but deffo up there as one of the choice spring bulbs, is Nectardoroscorm siculum................


The last of the Fritillaries to bloom here is F.camchatcensis......................

I can't seem to grow fritillaria here (apart from meleagris) but we can grow a mean onion and Nectaroscordum do very well and are just starting nothing special, bulgaricum has spread to form a large clump about 15' across here. Nice pictures

Not the most exciting of the Schisandra but the fruit are just as spectacular

The last few days of warm still conditions have really brought out the scent from the early Honeysuckles, Lonicera caprifolium and its yellow form Anna Fletcher, they have been flowering for about a month now

Infuriating that something used as cattle fodder in Argentina should be so tricky to grow in the UK, I usually over winter a pot full under glass just in case!
