Hanging around!

Post by charlie »

Still can't match JohnJerrards Spring pictures but as this Vinca is in front of the kitchen window (which is about as far as you can get with out getting wet) I thought it deserved a picture as it has been flowering since early December

Vinca is one of the few plants that seem happy to hang and doesn't try and climb back up itself, Jenny Pym is a named form of Vinca difformis

Its fair to say its never going to set the world on fire! But its one of those work-a-day plants you can rely on

As the weather warms the flowers darken

Elsewhere in the garden I have lived to regret planting Vinca major and minor as ground cover as it can, after years of looking OK suddenly get out of control, but Jenny can stay until I think of something better :)

Don't think that I'll be risking it as the common forms grow rampant around here! Shame, as it's one of the nicer forms.
