PUSHING THE BORDERS

So often we get weather warnings and nothing much out of the ordinary happens - this time they were not kidding! haven't venturing out to see if there are any damages :o

Ouch. Bit breezy here but less so than Bert. 30mph top speed.

So far, anyway.

'Cos it's a nor'westerly, we're protected a lot by the rest of the country for a change....'tis but a stiff breeze :shock:

We hardly noticed "Bert" so I was expecting more of the same this time! hope to goodness Chad's roof got done in time

The garden is getting quite trashed at the moment with wind speed about 60mph, but no structural danage here. Yesturday the wind was coming from the south west, has now swung around to come from the north west and tonight it will be from directly north. I think I'm going to find some shrubs suffering from wind rock when I can get out to inspect.
Musn't grumble, they are having it far worse in the Bristol Channel area and South Wales.

Just had a venture out - no damages here apart from a flexible solar panel that works the extractor fan in the conservatory, it had been removed by the wind and looked to have been gauged but I have just tested its output and its still kicking out 12v. Feel as though we have been really lucky as several people here in the village have had to retrieve sheds and greenhouses from the roads and the chainsaws were going most of the night to get the roads all open again for the morning commute .

That's awful Chad, your roofers have really let you down. Hope it gets resolved asap.

Got off fairly lightly with regards to structural damage, but 48 hrs of strong winds has completely defoliated some plants others have severe scorching of foliage. Very dependent on exact position and also height of the plant.

Ha, so much for getting away with it. I went for a walk around the village with the dog today and as I was returning from the top of the hill noticed a big hole in my greenhouse roof, hadn't noticed a thing looking inside the greenhouse as the missing piece (dutch light size) is above the Lonicera hilderbrandiana and the glass was luckily still on the remaining roof (in many pieces) and not all over the plants below
