PUSHING THE BORDERS

Feel like I dodged a bullet here. About 36 hrs of wind, gusting to 45mph, but no real damage to speak of. Nervously watched my large Eucalyptus dalrympleana swaying but it was fine. Plus only 5mm of rain. How did you westerners/northeners get on?

Same here … just a normal, miserable late autumn few days. Should be grateful having seen the misery bestowed upon other areas.

The garden is surprisingly untouched with Dahlia tamaulipana still flowering intact.

My temporary roof, where it is being repaired for a leak, moved.

Water ran down internal house walls.

Then electricity shorted out.

Builders tidied it up this morning, and said they would be back some time this week...

Twas but a breeze. Had to venture out to pick up a potted oleander that had been blown over. Also, there's less leaves to sweep up now ;)

I wouldn't say my garden is untouched but I certainly got off lightly.
My Dahlia campanulata has been blasted to bits but my D. tamaulipana is also still flowering but just leaning more then before.
The extent to which wind rock, affects a plant isn't always apparent straight away so I'm a bit worried about the Lobelia fistulosa and Roldana petasitis which are both leaning over a bit.

Got off lightly here, just one broken glass pane, had spent a boring few days last summer renewing glazing clips on the greenhouse - seems to have paid off. Plants didn't actually notice although more leaves are down now so we can carry on with autumn cutting back and shredding (Plus still having to cut grass :( )
