PUSHING THE BORDERS

Ok, I know this will probably dull the senses of a few here, I mean, what could possibly be interesting in a border pushing way about the lovely little snowdrop. I would generally agree. Except, many years ago I was given some Galanthus bulbs, probably from Lidl, thought nothing of them and stuffed them into a corner of my compost box. Over the years they have enjoyed the rich warm and moist conditions and have grown this season into giants. Larger than most wine bottles that many here would drink from. The border has been pushed in another way, demonstrating what a continuous flow of good food will do.

I stand corrected, never paid much attention to it as there are drifts of Galanthus all over the place at the moment. Thought it was also one, just on a diet of fresh air and good food!

An underrated plant Andrew. I was at my parents' house recently after not seeing the garden in Spring for many years. My sister gave my mom a small pot of these, presumably also from somewhere like Lidl or Aldi. To my surprise it has grown into a massive, really impressive flowering clump and a real stand out feature in the garden, prompting me that I should get some!

I really like them as well. I have some flowering together with some fritillaries, which looks rather nice.
