A few shots of garden details on a Sunday afternoon as it’s clouding up to rain again tonight.



Streptocarpella saxorum has been blooming since last August.


I always seem to forget the name of this delightful South African shrub in the Borage family, which was blooming in autumn and now again in spring.
I recall the name now, Lobostemon fruticosus.


Tibouchina organensis


Kalanchoe beharensis blooms yet to open, but one grows this one for the foliage and stature.

Banksia blechnifolia sends out these marvelously fuzzy ground hugging stems.


A stone mask brought back from Bali has really greened up with all the rains.


A California native, Claytonia siberica has naturalized throughout my garden.

Yes Chad! The genus name just don’t stick in my memory.

I have no idea what that actually looks like, but my mental image of it is unforgettable!

Streptocapella is a nice plant when grown well. I was given one a couple of years ago but even under greenhouse protection this last winter saw it off.

Nomenclature note.

Since a molecular phylogenetic study of 2015 Streptocarpella and Saintpaulia [African Violets] have been 'sunk' into Streptocarpus.

This plant is now Streptocarpus saxorum.

And whilst these groups were moving into the genus, Streptocarpus orientalis and the other Asian species got moved out to Damrongia.
