Seen at Beth Chatto's Garden a few days ago

I know this one ... but its skipped my mind :(

#4 I rather liked this, as a variation-on-a-theme of Verbena bonariensis. I am guessing (based on a plant / label I found in the nursery) that this is Verbena macdougalii Lavender Spires

My haul included:


Thalia dealbata



Pontederia cordata lancifolia


There was also a regular Pontederia cordata in the pond

Gosh some of that is miles ahead of down here

First one is Persicaria polymorpha. Nice thing.

I thought some of it late, compared to my garden 30 minutes NW ... I put that down to Beth Chatto's experiments with Dry / Gravel, and that maybe the drainage was delaying things, but 'tis only a guess.

We had some heat / dry early on, but frost pretty much every night in May, and then some wet. Never known my Foxgloves be so tall, which I reckon was the wet ... went Googling for a site that shows my year-to-day temperatures / precipitation in comparison with some long term averages ... and found things with fancy graphics to see now, today, this week or this month ... but not in comparison with long term averages :( Might have to buy a weather station and start recording my own data ...

Without material 'in hand' I can only get to genus.

2. Molina?

3. Limonium, but I suspect neither of the two listed in the catalogue.

Thanks Chad. I like the look of Beth Chatto's listing for Limonium platyphyllum 'Violetta', don't think it will like my heavy soil though ...
