A few bits and bobs still going strong here.

Having chopped all my other Tibouchina down this is the only one actually flowering. I am pensioning off the T.heteromala and urvileana and have just done up some new pot fulls

This Vitis hangs on to its red leaves longer than the Bostan Ivy and Virginia Creeper here

Just getting going, this Senna is much hardier than Senna obtusa which is the one you see mislabelled as corymbosa, so although that has larger flowers its too tender for me here, whereas this plant will take -10c without complaint!

It has even set a couple of seed pods - which is good news as its a bit tricky for cuttings with a high failure rate

Leonotis leonurus

Telanthophora grandiflolia flowers haven't quite opened up but the coming storm will probably put a stop to the display so this is probably as good as it gets for me.

Andy are you planning to leave the Telanthophora outside?

Yes Martin, I rooted a couple of side shoots from it earlier in the year so I have back up if it doesn't make it.
I haven't had it long enough to know how it will react to the cold so the next few months will be interesting. I also don't know how well it will stand up to the wind, might find out by the end of this weekend.
There is also a recent planting at Fox Rosehill which is completely under tree canopy so I'll be keeping an eye on that one as well.

Andy, interesting to see your Telanthophora is closer to blooming than my plant here in a zone 10a!

David, I think it may be simply because it is a young plant that is not yet in sync with it's environment. A rooted side shoot, in a pot, from this plant is already in full flower

Well we are into December and in Cornwall we have autumn and spring together.


Dahlia tamaulipana is a bit wind battered but still going strong.


Smallanthus maculatus may now be horizontal, but it is still flowering.


Galanthus peshmenii is under cover, and is actually late. John had this species in flower in October.


Narcissus Rijnveld's Early Sensation is usually in flower for the New Year here, and John usually has it for Christmas. It is very early this year.

I have noticed here some things are very early, good example is Camellia St Ewe up to now I could put money on the first flowers appearing by Christmass eve, this year its full out on the 1st, and we have certainly had postings in the past complaining Rijnveld's Early Sensation not being early!!

Noticed this trying to look wonderful in the Conservatory today covered in scented flowers, only slightly diminished by seeing it outside in Dominick's garden!
