I am a great fan of these Senna corymbosa and last year planted several more around the place which is presently rewarding me with big splashes of chrome yellow.

A Holly question - I have several different hollies around the garden all female, the berry crop in the past has been lack lustre so a couple of years ago we planted a couple of male forms, this year all the girls are well loaded with berries but do I get the credit or was it the previous winter weather? ie has everyone noticed an increased crop of fruits?

Don't know the species of this Deutzia , it came from Mark Fillan and is flowering for the second time this year

Over the years these Cyclamen have grown into large carpets, hederifolium seems to do a lot better here than coum which is a shame as I rather like the alba form of the spring flowering coum

Yes, we came back from Madeira in 2000 with the seed, took a while to get an ID as the plant generally sold as S corymbosa in the uk is actually S obtusa and a lot more tender (although it does have bigger flowers) so its been through every winter since 2001 outside without protection. It defoliates in cold winters but as I treat it very much like a Buddleja with a hard prune each spring it doesnt matter if it loses leave, I just cut it back earlier! Although I originally had it planted up against a sw wall I have since put it in the open garden and its been fine

Yes we are intending to be, we have of course to be invited! I have plenty of them and you are welcome to one as I did too many this year as several were destined to be given to son so were not for sale anyway

Thanks Charlie. I'll see you one way or another that weekend. I'll think about a plant in return - I might have a baby Begonia 'Torsa' if that is your type of thing?

Cant think of anything positive to say about the weather this November, stupidly decided to take down half the conservatory (before it fell down) which has meant trying to squish all the plants up one end, had to build a false bulkhead so it stays frost free, first gale destroyed that so now on the mark 2 version! However the plants bless them are trying to look attractive

The scilla (I think its been renamed) needs re potting as I have seen it look better

Strongly honey scented, I have never tried this outside although I got it from a garden just across the King Harry ferry where it was outside, being winter flowering I think I will stick to keeping it under glass

Charlie, lovely array of blooms reminds me of why I enjoy gardening. Just looked out of the window not gardening weather at the moment! ;)
