PUSHING THE BORDERS

Bit of a long shot but do any of you folk use "Thunderbird" as your email client? Came back from holiday to find its no longer downloading emails - bit annoying!

It hasn't been noticed as having a problem yet.

Thunderbird is the standard email package included with Linux. I’ve been using Linux for decades , specifically Ubuntu and would recommend it to everyone. It is very fast, complete in every sense, and free. Thunderbird is however not an email software I use because I find others more compatible with everything else I use in my life. But if you’re using and it’s not working make sure you’ve got it checked as your standard email client for starters. Hope it helps

Its really weird, I always turn it off when going away so the emails stay on my server and accessible as web mail , when I get home I turn it back on and everything normally floods back. This time nothing, tried re installing, tried un installing the virus software still nothing, I notice some other people with the same issue at around the same time, was wondering if windows has done an an up date recently thats upset it!

Anyway thanks for the suggestions and help - just fixed the phone so I am on a roll!!

Well it didnt take long to get soggy outside did it!

Been having a tidy of the Lapageria which are just starting to look ok now its cooled down, the early flowers were funny colours and the size and shape of the flowers poor

Its taken this one 6 years to recover from being bare rooted for import, still not huge but at least the labels correct!!

I’m guessing it’s been a poor year for Lapageria. Mine in the greenhouse have gone backwards. The white one I have, which flowered a couple of years ago, hated being transplanted and was looking very poor. I’m guessing it was just too hot in there. I’ve put it into a pot and moved it to a cooler, sheltered spot but it’s a fraction of the plant it was. I’ve got 4 plants growing in protected areas open to fresh air and they’ve made good growth but only one flower bud.

Last year when we went to Powis, the Lapagerias there were absolutely covered with flowers:





This year, very poor in comparison. I’m guessing all of these “heat waves” we have had this year have been a burden to this very finicky plant. Pity, as it’s my desert island choice.

How were your temps last night? Just seen the weather for the Midlands. Apparently parts of this area were subzero last night, the coldest night at this time of year since 1996! Set to be cold again tonight, I’ve hurriedly stuffed lots of plants under cover!

Brrr, below freezing and it isn't even October!? A fresh 6.7C here last night and anything between 5-8C tonight, depending upon which forecast you like.

Having been a bit underwhelmed by the small yellow flowers earlier the seed set is a bit better, is it worth the conservatory space - not sure yet, may try it outside somewhere, I cant find anything about its hardiness

Always think of Rob Senior when this Cleodendron ugandensis in flower - he gave it to us as he couldn't get it to flower, I of course am cheating as it spends the winter inside!
