Our Solomans Seal gets shredded every year, doesnt appear to have long term problems so I have never really noticed when it happens, but this year I spotted the culprits in action! Not sure why they have escaped the attention of the birds?

A few garden pictures taken this morning before we hopefully get some rain.
My new favourinte Salvia, shame my camera doesn't bring out the intensity of the pink


Rather large dandylions in our lawn this year


Musa basjoo easy to flower here, wish Musa sikkimensis was the same


No problem with capsid bug damage on the Impatiens tinctoria this year, last winters cold must have seen them off


Yeah, I know, I should have planted it elsewhere. I keep having to lift the canopy of the Luma behind it.

Gardens really coming on Andy.

We like the Salvia too (I am assuming its involucrata?) but do find the stems break in windy weather, always annoying when you have waited months for the flowers!

Yes Charlie, my mistake, 'involucrata' not 'involucratus' . I also find it rather fragile, even in its current sheltered location a few bits have broken off, including the first flower bud.

I bought this Hemerocallis labelled 'Double River Wye' but I don't think it is that one, any thoughts as to ID? (so many to choose from)

I have long been a fan of Hemerocalis but, as you say, they are virtually impossible to i'd if you are sold a wrong'un or lose a label.

Here are a couple of my current favourites, I hope the labels are still buried in the undergrowth.

That Heptapleurum taiwanianum grown on a single stem is awesome.

Is the complex leaf in front of it Tithonia diversifolia?

Why can't they leave things alone, I've only just learnt how to spell shuflerer.

As far as I know the leaf in front belongs to Tithonia rotundifolia. I bought the seed four years ago from Sarah Raven and have grown it every year since from seed saved.
It would not surprise me if you are correct Chad as recently much of the sold ground I thought I was standing on has started to shift :roll:

I absolutely agree with Chad, your... taiwanianum does look amazing Andy. I have tried and failed miserably several times with this one, perhaps I will have better luck now they have changed the name. :lol:

The Hemerocalis is 'Open Hearth' if I remember correctly. I swapped some around the garden late last year as it clashed badly with the very similar but crazily named 'Zip Boom Bah'.
I will double check the labels, if I find them.
If either of you would like some, I am pretty sure it has bulked up enough to divide later in the year.
