#5 is Holboellia but not latifolia (which rather gives it away!JohnJearrard wrote:...and I can't decide whether no 5 is a Holboellia or a Stauntonia so the species is going to be a wild guess (my favourite sort). Holboellia latifolia?

Not H.latifolia gives it away! To whom?charlie wrote: #5 is Holboellia but not latifolia (which rather gives it away!
That leaves 8 species [not to mention the forms!] from The Plant List.
Holboellia angustifolia
Holboellia brachyandra
Holboellia chapaensis
Holboellia coriacea
Holboellia grandiflora
Holboellia medogensis
Holboellia parviflora
Holboellia pterocaulis
Do you have all the ones in Julian Shaw's write up?

Only 3, but I thought the leaves were quite distinctive. You will notice I haven't changed over to calling them Stauntonia!! :)Chad wrote:Not H.latifolia gives it away! To whom?charlie wrote: #5 is Holboellia but not latifolia (which rather gives it away!

You are getting uncomfortably close!
Lots of people looking, but no one else willing to risk it apparently

OK,
an Osmanthus then.
I’ve never seen berries on xburkwoodii, but have been out to check the leaves and it would just about fit; the leaves on mine are much 'dumpier'. Or one if its parents [O. delavayi and O. decorus] neither of which have I grown.
Or, one of the other 35 that The Plant list lists!

I feel as you have mentioned O. decorus I should give it to you now! Its my favourite I think it looks better than O. yunnanensis which to my eyes has somewhat duller leaves. I don't think the picture (which is of the fruit) shows O. decorus leaves to best effect

And that brings us back to 005. From your web site list I can now say if it isn’t latifolia then it must be coriacea.
Does Tom’s introduction key out as that with the Julian Shaw key?
