Desfontiania spinosa

I first saw Desfontiania spinosa down in the Jungle at Heligan and wanted one. After the house move I now have more space and better options to site it but still baulked at the price being asked.Then I found three for £8 + p&p and figured they were worth a punt. Smaller than if I'd spent £10/£15 on one, but reasonable cuttings in active growth with strong root systems.

Next year will be crunch time as I'll put two in the ground, but one has rewarded me with this........................

Certainly a wonderful thing if it likes you, friend of mine had a wonderful huge one and used to do many cuttings but it didn't like the soil here

According to my bible it prefers moist acidic soil. I can do the moist but need to work at the acidic bit.
