The sound of summer - the swallows return!

Not in the slightest bit plant related! but after an absence of 3 years a pair of swallows have returned to nest in the barn. says much for their construction skills that there are several old nests still serviceable. I love the twittering noise they make and sitting watching them over the garden late in the evening and suddenly realizing that the swooping and darting are no longer swallows but bats, its like a well oiled shift change.
Gone cloudy and windy tonight so had to watch from inside the conservatory, but summer seems unstoppable now :)
