Gingers are starting

Post by charlie »

I seem to think these are ahead of normal timing for me? But I dont actually keep a record so cant be sure!

Has to be one of my favourites Hedychium wardii, this is in a pot outside and therefore being watered, the clump in the ground is behind more down to it having been a lot drier than it felt this summer, while we were being subjucted to daily mizzle the ground was actually getting very little actual water

Hedychium 'Stephen' This has never done well where I put it so I dug it up last year and its still sat in a pot waiting for a new location

Thats the thing, this year they were all late coming up, and flower wise I would normally put money on Assam Orange leading the season, it looks like H. yunnanense will be first to flower in the ground and that was the last to wake up, we didn't see any stems before June! Weird season

Yes a very strange year due to late cold spring, but a lot of plants have flowered earlier than usual. ;)
